WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Surviving or thriving? Anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grief or trauma – you may be feeling one or more of these challenging emotions, leaving you depleted and unable to live life to the full. A feeling of exhaustion and a sense of being overwhelmed may leave you feeling stuck and unable to move on with your life. You may also notice yourself becoming prone to ill health as a result.
Counselling can provide a confidential and safe space in which to explore issues that are impacting you now. I offer a safe and supportive environment, enabling you to develop emotional resilience and the hope of long-lasting change.
OUR FIRST SESSION
We will discuss what has brought you to counselling at this time. You may want to share some of your story and describe what issues are currently impacting you. This first session is also a way for you to see how I work and ask any questions you may have. We might also think about your needs in terms of short or longer term counselling.
I offer a reduced fee for our first session and thereafter a 50 minute session is £50
Fees are payable on the day, we can discuss payment methods at our first session.
I offer a limited number of concessionary rates. This option can also be discussed at our first session.
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. Counselling can offer support with the next step on that journey.
WHAT TYPE OF COUNSELLING DO I OFFER?
I offer humanistic counselling and have a holistic, person-centred approach. This means the focus of our sessions will be based on your current experiences. We will work at your pace and think about any issues which are having an impact on you now. This may include exploring historical events, relationships, unmet needs and any difficult decisions you may currently be facing. To support you through your counselling journey we will also explore your current resourcing and self-care needs.
HOW WILL WE WORK TOGETHER?
Ideally you will have your session once a week, at the same time and on the same day. Each session will last for 50 minutes. I am happy to offer an initial telephone conversation to discuss availability and answer any questions you may have. I see clients face-to-face, via Zoom and on the telephone.
I adhere to the Data Protection Act (1988) and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). I am also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Your name and contact details will be stored in a password protected folder on my personal computer. After our final session, this information will be deleted.Your assessment record will be stored in a locked filing cabinet and does not include your contact details. I keep brief sessions notes which are also stored in a locked filing cabinet, again with no identifiable information. I will store your notes for 7 years as required by my professional body and insurer. All of your data is confidential and not used for any other purpose.
